Can You Hear Me Now? The TSO Transmit and Receive Commands
Flexible and always available, the TSO TRANSMIT (XMIT) format is the de facto standard for moving many types of data between z/OS systems. Together with the companion RECEIVE command, TRANSMIT is widely used to move DASD files (and sometimes, messages) between z/OS locations.
TRANSMIT insures that datasets which are otherwise difficult to move, such as load libraries, arrive at their destination in a usable form, and includes a wealth of options including encryption, messaging, logging, and use of node ids and nicknames.
Join us as we look at the XMIT and RECEIVE commands, how they work, how they’re commonly used, as well as some of the PC-based and other tools that make use of this versatile format.
