Generation Data – Modernizing GDG Processing

Generation data groups and data sets (GDGs and GDSs) have been around since the very beginning of mainframe systems. Unique to z/OS, they allow the same JCL and dataset names to be used over and over again to easily create and group data by day, week, month, and year.

More recent releases of z/OS have added a number of new GDG features, including extended GDGs and many JCL and catalog options to control the order and manner in which GDG generations are processed.

During this webinar, we provide an overview of GDG processing and discuss some of the new features and functions that are available for GDG management.
