What does this PlaceIQ Product Privacy Notice Cover?

This PlaceIQ Product Privacy Notice (“PlaceIQ Product Privacy Notice”) is delivered by PlaceIQ, Inc. (“PlaceIQ, “we”, “us”, “our”). It is posted to inform you how PlaceIQ collects, uses, or otherwise processes information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular individual or household (collectively “Personal Data”) in connection with offering the PlaceIQ Products, solutions, and services (together, the “PlaceIQ Products”).

Please note that this PlaceIQ Product Privacy Notice applies only to: (i) Personal Data processed by the PlaceIQ Products, (ii) Personal Data processed when representatives of our business to business customers or suppliers (“Authorized Users”) access or use the PlaceIQ Products, and (iii) Personal Data we process when individuals contact PlaceIQ to exercise any privacy rights they may have or otherwise as set forth in “How to Contact Us” below. It does not apply to Personal Data that is collected and otherwise processed from visitors to www.precisely.com, the PlaceIQ-specific product page on www.precisely.com, or from existing or potential PlaceIQ customers or suppliers in the business-to-business communications context, all which is covered by the Precisely Global Privacy Notice.

Information We Collect & Otherwise Process

Information We Receive from Data Suppliers

In connection with offering the PlaceIQ Products, we purchase, license, or receive information, including Personal Data, from various data suppliers. Our data suppliers may collect this information directly from you or may purchase or license it from other entities. Our data suppliers may include, for example, mobile app publishers and developers, advertising networks, automotive data aggregators, ad exchanges, and others.

The data we receive from our data suppliers may include data from your mobile device (“Device Data”), such as the following, and may include Personal Data:

  • Geolocation based on latitude and longitude of a mobile device or vehicle
  • A unique device identifier such as a mobile advertising identifier
  • Other information about a device (such as the browser or device type, IP address or app publisher, operating system, carrier provider, advertising identifier, and other similar device-specific information)

Device Data may also include information about your activities across websites, applications services, points of interest, and locations (such as the location of your device) over time. Such data elements can reveal a device’s proximity to certain locations, which include commercial establishments and public spaces.

The data we purchase, license, or receive from data suppliers may also include:

  • Transactional purchase data;
  • Hashed email addresses;
  • Information about specific households; and/or
  • Information regarding attributes associated with particular locations, or neighborhoods, which may include information regarding the demographic breakdown associated with certain zip codes, or the percentage of single-family households in a given area. Such information may be publicly available, and, at times, we may receive it from our affiliates.

We may use the information we receive or otherwise maintain and combine it with other information, including demographic data or modeled data. We may use this information in an effort to infer characteristics or information that may be associated with individuals, groups, or devices.

Information We Collect from Authorized Users

We obtain Authorized Users’ login credentials when they use the PlaceIQ Products and may retain logs and information regarding how such Authorized Users access the PlaceIQ Products or use the services or platforms through which the PlaceIQ Products are made available.

Information You Provide to Us

When you reach out to us in relation to the PlaceIQ Products to exercise any privacy rights you may have or to ask us questions or otherwise communicate with us using the information set forth in “How to Contact Us” below, you may provide information to us, such as your name, email address, mobile device advertising ID (“MAID”), and the content of your communications, which may include Personal Data.

Aggregated Data

We also process “Aggregated Data” such as statistical or demographic data for any purpose, including to provide the PlaceIQ Products. Aggregated Data may be derived from Personal Data, but once in aggregated form it will not constitute Personal Data as this data does not directly or indirectly reveal your identity. However, if we combine or connect Aggregated Data with Personal Data about you so that it can directly or indirectly identify you, we treat the combined data as Personal Data which will be used in accordance with this PlaceIQ Product Privacy Notice.

How We Use Information

We may use your information, including Personal Data, for various reasons depending on the information provided and the context in which we process it. For instance, we may use your information in the following ways:

  • To provide the PlaceIQ Products.We may use information to power the PlaceIQ Products and to license the PlaceIQ Products and their outputs to our customers. This includes licensing the data set forth above under “Information We Collect & Otherwise Process” to our customers.  Customers may use data in the PlaceIQ Products for a variety of purposes, including for targeted advertising, to infer characteristics about potential consumer behaviors, to evaluate where to open a new retail store, or to make decisions about appropriate employees staffing levels.
  • To provide you with access to the PlaceIQ Products as an Authorized User. For example, we process information about Authorized Users to allow you to access the PlaceIQ Products that you or your organization has licensed.
  • To communicate with you. We may use your information to communicate with you, such as when you reach out to us with questions or to exercise any privacy rights you may have.
  • For compliance with law, to enforce our rights and manage our business. We may use your information, including Personal Data, to prevent activity we determine to be potentially illegal or contrary to any contracts or other agreements we have in place with you or our customers, data suppliers, or other entities, or as permitted or required by law, including for auditing, fraud and security monitoring purposes. We may also use your Personal Data to carry out our obligations, enforce our rights and manage our business, including to enforce any contracts or other agreements between you and us, or between us and our customers and suppliers, and to manage Product licenses, license keys, access to the PlaceIQ Products, updates, and support, or for similar purposes.
  • For analytics and product development purposes. We may use your information, including information related to your use of the PlaceIQ Products for analytics and product development, including to evaluate and improve the PlaceIQ Products, and to assess usage, preferences, and trends.
  • To develop and create inferences, for example, inferences regarding your activities, preferences, and interests.
  • To create Aggregated Data.
  • For our legitimate interests or otherwise at your direction or with your consent.
  • As otherwise disclosed to you or as may be permitted or required by law.

How We Share Information

We may disclose Personal Data with affiliated and/or unaffiliated entities, or otherwise permit them to access it in a variety of circumstances, such as in connection with providing some or all of the PlaceIQ Products, and for the operation of our business. For example, we may disclose Personal Data,  to the following categories of entities:

  • With our Affiliates. Our affiliates help us in various ways, such as to provide the PlaceIQ Products, as well as administrative support (including finance, information technology, human resources, legal, operations, and other management services/oversight etc.).
  • With our Service Providers. We employ or engage service providers, which can include other companies and people, to perform tasks on our behalf, and we may need to share your Personal Data with them.  For example, our attorneys, bankers, accountants, auditors, insurers, consultants, web hosting, data governance platforms, and other advisors who provide us with their respective services may need to receive certain elements of your Personal Data to provide their services to us.
  • With our Customers. We sell and license data to our customers, and such data includes Personal Data.
  • To Comply with Legal Requirements and Enable Protection of Rights. We may disclose your Personal Data at the request of law enforcement or government agencies, in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal processes, or as otherwise required by any law, regulation or legal order to which we are subject.  We may also disclose your Personal Data to protect the rights, property, or safety of another person, to monitor for or prevent fraud, or to investigate or prevent your violation of any contractual or other relationships with us or your suspected illegal or unlawful activities.
  • In connection with a business transaction. If we or any of our affiliates, subsidiaries or lines of business are merged, acquired, divested, financed, sold, disposed of or dissolved, including through merger, consolidation, sale or divestiture of assets, any information collected pursuant to this PlaceIQ Product Privacy Notice, including Personal Data we may possess about you, may, in whole or in part, be sold, disposed of, transferred, divested, or otherwise disclosed as part of that transaction or proceeding.
  • As otherwise described to you or with your consent. We may disclose your Personal Data to unaffiliated entities as otherwise described to you or with your consent.

Your Privacy Rights

You may have certain rights in relation to your Personal Data, such as:

  • The right to know how we have collected, used and disclosed your Personal Data, including the right to confirm whether we process your Personal Data and to access such Personal Data;
  • The right to request that we delete your Personal Data that we have collected about you;
  • The right to request that we correct inaccurate Personal Data about you;
  • The right to opt-out of the sale of your Personal Data;
  • The right to opt-out of us sharing your Personal Data for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising;
  • The right to opt-out of the processing of your Personal Data for profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning you;
  • The right to obtain a copy of your Personal Data;
  • The right to direct us to limit the use and disclosure of your sensitive Personal Data;
  • The right to not be discriminated against by us for exercising any rights you may have in relation to your Personal Data; and
  • The right to appeal prior determinations.

How to Exercise Your Privacy Rights

To exercise privacy rights you may have you can:

  2. Email us at Privacy.PlaceIQ@Precisely.com. Please follow the “Instructions for Providing Your Mobile Device Advertising ID (“MAID”)” below when submitting your request; or
  3. Call our toll-free number, 1-800-957-4511 and follow the prompts.

For Appeals Requests, please provide your (i) first and last name; (ii) phone number; (iii) email address; and (iv) reference number for your previously denied request, if applicable.

Instructions for Providing Your Mobile Device Advertising ID (“MAID”).
A MAID (which is also known as a “mobile ad ID”) is a sequence of alphanumeric characters that are assigned to a mobile device or tablet by the device’s operating system (either Apple iOS or Google Android).

We may need your MAID to be able to process certain privacy rights requests, such as requests to opt-out of the sale of Personal Data, or requests to delete your Personal Data. Please include it when submitting a request.

  • Google Android Users: A Google Android MAID is known as the “AAID.” To find your Android device’s AAID, open the Settings app, then select “Ads”. The AAID is listed at the bottom of the screen.
  • Apple iOS Users: Apple iOS’s MAID is known as the “IDFA.” Unfortunately, iOS does not currently provide a way for users to see their device’s IDFA. However, you may be able to find your device’s IDFA by using certain apps in the App Store.

We use a combination of administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data security and correctly use the information we collect from and about you. However, no system can be completely secure, and we do not guarantee that unauthorized disclosures and access will not happen. Notwithstanding the measures we use to safeguard against unauthorized disclosures of information, we cannot assure you that your Personal Data or other information will never be disclosed in a manner that is inconsistent with this PlaceIQ Product Privacy Notice.

Data Retention

We will retain your Personal Data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected and processed, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, regulatory, accounting, or reporting requirements. To determine the appropriate retention period for your Personal Data, we will consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the Personal Data, the potential risk from unauthorized use or disclosure, the purposes for which we process Personal Data and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and applicable legal requirements.

Children’s Privacy

The PlaceIQ Products are not intended for children below the age of 16 and we do not knowingly collect Personal Data relating to such children. If you are aware of anyone under 16 using the PlaceIQ Products or believe the Personal Data of someone under the age of 16 has been included in the PlaceIQ Products, please contact us at the email address provided under the heading below entitled “How To Contact Us”.

Changes to this PlaceIQ Product Privacy Notice

This PlaceIQ Product Privacy Notice may be changed at any time and such changes will apply to information we collected pursuant to a previous privacy notice. The revised PlaceIQ Product Privacy Notice will be posted on the appropriate portion(s) of product-specific pages or websites. We will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this PlaceIQ Product Privacy Notice. We encourage you to periodically check back to review this PlaceIQ Product Privacy Notice so that you know what information we collect, how we use it and with whom we share it.
