Key Takeaways

  • Precisely is named a Major Player among 13 vendors in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Intelligent Customer Communication Management 2026 Vendor Assessment.
  • Governed AI works when people review and approve recommendations and every AI contribution is logged. According to the IDC MarketScape, “EngageOne RapidCX’s enterprise governance, privacy, accessibility, and security controls are designed for regulated industries.”
  • Personalisation is only as reliable as the data behind it. The IDC MarketScape states, “EngageOne products can leverage the data quality and enrichment capabilities Precisely offers to ground personalization in verified, cleaned, and contextualized customer data.”

Most regulated teams can tell you what they sent. Fewer can show how each message was drafted, who checked it, and what AI contributed. In customer communications management (CCM), regulators and customers can ask that question about any message a bank, insurer, healthcare, or telecoms provider sends. AI can make the answer harder to give, because more of the work now happens before a person looks at it.

We believe IDC MarketScape took the question seriously in the Worldwide Intelligent Customer Communication Management 2026 Vendor Assessment. Precisely was named a Major Player among 13 vendors evaluated.

Here is what the analysts found, what it tells buyers, and the questions I would ask any vendor, including us.

What we believe is changing in customer communications management

CCM now has a crucial role to play in the wider customer experience, and AI is being built into every layer, from the admin console to the migration toolkit.

Two shifts stand out to me:

  1. AI agents are moving into the platform itself, with Model Context Protocol (MCP) as the connective tissue to the data and systems around them.
  2. AI-assisted template reconstruction is shortening migrations, so switching costs are eroding and buyers can choose what moves to a new platform instead of filling it with legacy complexity.

On that first point, we have built-in agents within EngageOne™ RapidCX and use MCP to connect them to trusted data, so customers don’t need additional products to put governed AI to work. The second item is certainly a welcome change. Lock-in is a poor reason to keep a platform. If customers can leave more easily, vendors have to earn every renewal, and I would rather compete on that basis.

The IDC MarketScape states, “Buyers should treat every “AI powered” and “agentic” claim the same way: ask what’s shipping today, what’s still aspirational, and what happens to your data and your governance obligations in between.” We agree, and would like to be held to it.

Why does governed AI matter in regulated customer communications?

A bank cannot send a letter that is quick but wrong. Regulated industries must find a balance between speed and control. This requires a secure, governed model like that of EngageOne™ RapidCX.

In practice, that means the AI agents recommend and your team decides. Every recommendation is approved or rejected by a person, and an audit trail records how AI contributed to each communication and action. Each agent is opt-in, so a team can start with one task and widen from there. Intelligent Archive Search and a Communication Builder Agent, Compliance Risk Scoring Agent, and PII Masking Insight Agent are the most recent additions to our agent set.

The speed side is easier to picture with a customer example from the report: A U.S. investment company manages more than 5,300 template changes a year across 34 million points of communication, with no IT involvement. Business teams make the changes, and the approval workflow keeps them inside the rules.

Across the EngageOne™ customer base, more than 1 billion communications go out each year, which is the scale at which governance has to sit inside the workflow rather than be checked afterwards.

The IDC MarketScape notes, “As agentic AI capabilities expand across nearly every vendor’s road map, buyers should ask how role-based access and audit logging extend to AI agents themselves (what an agent can configure or execute, who approves it, and how it’s logged) since this is still an immature area across the market and will only become more critical as administrative work increasingly involves AI acting on an admin’s behalf.”

What can an agent configure or execute, who approves it, and how is that recorded? It is the right test for any platform.

How does trusted data make personalisation safer?

A letter can pass every approval step and still be wrong if the address behind it is out of date. In regulated industries, a wrong name, a stale balance, or a missed preference becomes a complaint, and sometimes a compliance matter.

The IDC MarketScape states, “In addition to customer communications management, Precisely offers data management capabilities including data integration, quality, enrichment, governance, and location intelligence. EngageOne products can leverage the data quality and enrichment capabilities Precisely offers to ground personalization in verified, cleaned, and contextualized customer data. This is a structurally unique value proposition. Today, that connection is delivered through MCP and API integration, with tighter integration on the road map.”

The Precisely Platform brings the underlying data capabilities together, and the aim is communications built on AI-ready data from the first draft to the final send.

What should buyers ask before choosing a CCM platform?

  • What ships today, what is on the roadmap, and what happens to my data in between?
  • How do access controls and audit logs apply to AI agents, and who approves what they do?
  • Does the platform enforce compliance itself, or does that depend on our own configuration and staff knowledge?
  • How will templates, rules, and archives migrate, and how will I confirm that nothing we needed was lost before the old system is switched off?

IDC MarketScape advises, “Treat generic claims of ‘supporting regulated industries’ with healthy skepticism rather than specific, named accelerators or documented use cases in the buyer’s own domain.” That is fair. Ask us for the evidence.

What does a Major Player recognition mean for customers?

I believe that our Major Player recognition is a fair account of where we are, with more to build on our cloud-native, event-driven platform, and I am grateful to the customers and the teams behind EngageOne™ RapidCX who made it possible.
